Chad First Fathers Day

Yesterday was Chads first Fathers Day. Unfortunately he had to work until 5, so Dillon and I loaded up and headed to Proper to see my Dad (Pops) and Kathy (Meme). You would think an hour drive would be a piece of cake, but after working a 12hr shift on a busy night it certainly wasn't. When we got to Prosper we loaded up again and headed to Euless to see my grandparents. I haven't seen them since Christmas so I was very happy we were going. I wished I lived closer so that I could see them more often. My grandpa was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease umm....a long time ago. I hadn't seen him in so long and he didn't remember who I was. It made my heart ache to see what this disease was doing. It isn't like I didn't know though. Going through Nursing school I had seen it so many times. It is so different when it's your loved one that is affected. I hugged him and just reminded him who I was as if he had seen me everyday of his life. My grandma takes such good care of him and is truly a remarkable women. Dillon was the center of attention due to the fact that they had only seen him twice and he is almost seven months old. That is my fault though. All in all we had a great visit that was so long overdue. I wanted it to be longer but thought I better get home around 5 so Dillon and I could spend some time with Chad on his first Fathers Day. On the way home I thought about my grandpa and what a great person he is. When we were little we stayed the night with them all the time. We played games (Clue, Uno, Packman), went on trips, and had fun just hanging out at their house. Singing is one of his passions and I cant remember a time when he wasn't singing Hank Williams. Even to strangers in the grocery store. Probably still does. I am so blessed that I have such wonderful grandparents that love me like they do. I am also so thankful Dillon does too and will one day have memories like this. When I got home Chad and I snuggled up to our baby boy (who had passed out in the car) and took a nap. The rest of the even was spent at home playing in the floor with him making him smile and laugh. His laughter is something that never gets old. It was a wonderful day but when bedtime came around boy was I ready. At that point I was gong on 30hr with a 2hr nap in there somewhere.

This is my Gramps and I on my first Christmas at five weeks old.

Getting Started

I got the inspiration to start a blog from friends on facebook. I thought it would be a good way to keep track of what is happening in our lives. In the past five years of my life I have graduated college, started my career, lost my mother, got married, bought a house, and had a baby. Man it seems so crazy that all this has happened in just five short years. Chad and I were married 2yrs on June 14th and we welcomed our son Dillon to our family on Thanksgiving day 2009. He made his arrival just in time to watch his first Cowboys game. He is currently 6 1/2 months old and changing daily. The picture is our first family photo that was taken in January 2010. Currently it is the only one we have. It amazes me how different Dillon looks already. With everything happening so fast around me this will be a good way to keep up with things that one day I will want to reflect on. I also thought it would be a good way for my family to see how Dillon is changing and the funny things does. "A picture is worth a thousand words sometimes."
